Mr. Simmers joined S&J Sports in 1996 as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer. In 1998, Mr. Simmers ascended to as Vice President. In 2005, Mr. Simmers ascended to his current position as President, where he is responsible for the management of cash flows and finances, and oversees the areas of management, store development and information technology, all personnel and employee benefits, in addition to overseeing all phases of S&J’s operations. Since Mr. Simmers joined the company he has completed 15 store aquistions and 10 new store openings. Mr. Simmers has also implemented a 401k plan among other employee benefit packages. Mr. Simmers has seen the company grow from $3.6 million in sales and 30 employees to over $17 million in sales and 150 employees during his 16 ½ years with the company.
Prior to joining S&J Sports, Mr. Simmers was a Partner at Ferguson & Simmers, P.A. from 1993 to 1996 in Lakeland, Florida. During his tenure at Ferguson & Simmers, Mr. Simmers’s led the firm’s growth, which brought about the addition of two more partners, and resulted in the firm’s name change to Wall, Foss, Ferguson & Simmers. Mr. Simmers was the marketing partner of the firm and was primarily responsible for client relations and firm development. Mr. Simmers’ firm experienced tremendous growth, nearly doubling annual billings every year.
